44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, The members of the Berkner High School Bill Club
66 have distinguished themselves as advocates for positive change in
77 their school and community; and
88 WHEREAS, The group has worked to promote legislation that
99 would expand mental health resources in the Lone Star State; after
1010 identifying a severe lack of mental health services in Texas
1111 schools, the group proposed a bill that would require school
1212 districts to annually evaluate students' mental health and employ
1313 at least one professional psychologist for every 600 students at
1414 each school; and
1515 WHEREAS, The outstanding students who contributed to the
1616 Berkner Bill initiative include Claira Shaugnessy, Leslie Galaviz,
1717 Alena Tran, Skarleth Villeda, Emmanuel Godfreey, Fayyed Ahmed, Alan
1818 Aradillas, Becca Lian, and Faith Joslin; and
1919 WHEREAS, The members of the Berkner High School Bill Club
2020 have set an inspiring example of civic engagement, and it is truly a
2121 pleasure to recognize these admirable young Texans for their
2222 accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
2323 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2424 Legislature hereby commend the members of the Berkner High School
2525 Bill Club for their advocacy efforts and extend to all those
2626 associated with the group sincere best wishes for the future; and,
2727 be it further
2828 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2929 prepared for the club as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3030 House of Representatives.
