 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Karen Prewitt of IDEA Palmview College Preparatory
 has earned certification from the National Board for Professional
 Teaching Standards; and
 WHEREAS, One of the most respected professional
 certifications available in K-12 education, national board
 certification was designed to develop, retain, and recognize
 accomplished teachers and to generate ongoing improvement in
 schools nationwide; board certification is available in 25 areas
 that span 16 disciplines from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade;
 and
 WHEREAS, Ms. Prewitt has worked as an educator for 18 years
 and currently serves as an eighth-grade Algebra 1 teacher at IDEA
 Palmview; throughout her seven-year tenure, she has demonstrated an
 outstanding commitment to ensuring that her students enroll and
 excel in college; she holds a bachelor's degree from the University
 of Nebraska at Kearney and a master's degree from Chadron State
 College, and her certification is in mathematics for adolescents
 and young adults; and
 WHEREAS, Karen Prewitt exemplifies the passion,
 determination, and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our
 best teachers, and she has set a standard of excellence to which all
 in her profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Karen Prewitt of IDEA Palmview
 College Preparatory on her receipt of certification from the
 National Board for Professional Teaching Standards and extend to
 her sincere best wishes for continued success with her important
 work; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Prewitt as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
