| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Competing against the top players in the state at |

| 9 | 9 | | the UT Rio Grande Valley Brownsville Campus on March 25, |

| 10 | 10 | | Ms. Peycheva captured her first three matches before drawing |

| 11 | 11 | | against her teammate, Tarini Goyal, in the fourth round; she |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | triumphed against her final two opponents to score 5.5 points and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | claim the state championship; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, A native of Bulgaria, Ms. Peycheva has represented |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | her home country at the European and World Championships, and in |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | 2014, she earned a gold medal at the European School Chess |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Championship in Greece; more recently, she took part in the 44th |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | World Chess Olympiad in Chennai, India, where she helped the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Bulgarian national team earn a top-10 ranking in the world; she is |

| 20 | 20 | | currently in her freshman year as a business administration major |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | at UTD; and |

| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Gergana Peycheva has demonstrated exceptional skill |

| 23 | 23 | | and an unwavering commitment to excellence, and she may indeed take |

| 24 | 24 | | great pride in her many accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |

| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 26 | 26 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Gergana Peycheva on winning the |
