| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The 90th birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | cause for celebration, and Dr. Harry Macey Jr. is marking that |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | special milestone on April 5, 2023; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Harry Macey was born in 1933 in Memphis, Tennessee, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | to Dr. Harry Buford Macey and Virginia St. John Macey; a 1951 |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | graduate of Temple High School, he continued his education at |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Temple Junior College, The University of Texas at Austin, and The |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, earning his doctor |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | of medicine degree in 1958; he went on to complete an internship at |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Santa Rosa Hospital in San Antonio and a residency in obstetrics and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | gynecology at Charity Hospital in New Orleans; moreover, he served |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | for three years in the U.S. Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Base in Ohio; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, In 1969, Dr. Macey joined the staff of the Baylor |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Scott and White Clinic in Temple; he also practiced obstetrics and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | gynecology at the King's Daughters Temple Women's Clinic, retiring |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | in 2000 after a long and successful career; engaged in his |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | professional community, he was a founding member of the Temple |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | College Foundation, and he held leadership roles with such |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | organizations as the Bell County Medical Society, the Texas Medical |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Association, the Texas Association of Obstetricians and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Gynecologists, and the American College of Obstetricians and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Gynecologists; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Macey and his wife, Mary Ann Zinsmeyer Macey, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | shared a rewarding marriage that spanned more than six decades |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | before her passing in 2016; they raised four children, Marilyn, |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Lisa, Harry, and the late Betty Ann Macey; a man of faith, Dr. Macey |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | has enjoyed active membership in St. Francis Episcopal Church |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | through the years; and |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | WHEREAS, Respected and admired by all who are privileged to |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | know him, Dr. Harry Macey may reflect with great satisfaction on a |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | lifetime of achievement, and it is a pleasure to join his many |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | friends and loved ones in honoring him on this memorable occasion; |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | now, therefore, be it |

| 39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 40 | 40 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Harry Macey Jr. on his 90th |
