| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Clover Club of Kaufman celebrated its 125th |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | anniversary on May 12, 2022; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, This notable organization traces its origins back to |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | 1897, when its four charter members founded a club to study American |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | history and literature; the group was initially known as the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Four-Leaf Clover Club, and in 1899, its name was shortened to the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Clover Club; in 1903, the group joined the General Federation of |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Women's Clubs, an international organization dedicated to |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | philanthropy and volunteerism; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Clover Club has worked |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | tirelessly to improve the quality of life in the community; it |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | played an instrumental role in establishing the Kaufman County |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Library in 1968, and it has continued to contribute to the library |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | through monetary donations; moreover, the club has supported a |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | variety of initiatives focused on arts and culture, the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | environment, education, civic engagement, and health and wellness; |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Today, the Clover Club benefits from the able |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | guidance of president Barbara Harvey, and its members have the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | opportunity to participate in a number of education, training, and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | leadership programs; the organization has received honors from the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | City of Kaufman and the General Federation of Women's Clubs; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, For more than a century, the members of the Clover |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Club of Kaufman have been a dynamic and positive force in their |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | community, and it is a pleasure to recognize the group for its long |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | history of exceptional service; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the Clover Club of Kaufman on its |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | 125th anniversary and extend to all those associated with the club |
