44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, April 7, 2023, marks the celebration of Good Friday,
66 an important day in the Christian Holy Week; and
77 WHEREAS, Good Friday, which takes place on the last Friday
88 before Easter, commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, the
99 only begotten Son of God; according to the Holy Scriptures, Jesus
1010 was arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane, scourged, crowned with
1111 thorns, and carried the cross to Calvary where He was crucified,
1212 offering Himself for the salvation of all mankind; on Easter
1313 Sunday, he was risen from the tomb; and
1414 WHEREAS, Today, many Christians observe Good Friday by
1515 fasting or abstaining from eating meat, attending special church
1616 services, and taking time for solemn reflection; and
1717 WHEREAS, Good Friday is a sacred day on the Christian
1818 calendar, and it is a pleasure to join in recognizing this important
1919 observance; now, therefore, be it
2020 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2121 Legislature hereby commemorate Good Friday in 2023.
