5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Long-term care nurses are dedicated to providing |

7 | 7 | | living with disabilities or who are suffering from progressive or |
---|
8 | 8 | | chronic illnesses; and |

9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, These highly skilled health care professionals are |
---|
10 | 10 | | responsible for coordinating and assessing patient care, assisting |
---|
11 | 11 | | patients with daily tasks, and working alongside medical and |
---|
12 | 12 | | clinical staff to develop and implement plans to deliver quality |
---|
13 | 13 | | care; their training as registered nurses qualifies them to perform |
---|
14 | 14 | | procedures such as administering medications and operating medical |
---|
15 | 15 | | equipment, and they serve as a source of education, emotional |
---|
16 | 16 | | support, and guidance to patients, families, and caregivers alike; |
---|

18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Long-term care nurses are highly valued for their |

19 | 19 | | ability to build meaningful long-term relationships with their |
---|
20 | 20 | | patients, which helps them in recognizing a change in condition |

21 | 21 | | that nurses in other fields may not notice; day after day, these |
---|
22 | 22 | | professionals are trusted by caregivers to keep their loved ones |
---|
23 | 23 | | safe and healthy and to ensure that they are treated according to |
---|
24 | 24 | | their unique health care needs; and |
---|
25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Careers in long-term nursing can be invaluably |
---|
26 | 26 | | rewarding, while also offering professional growth and development |
---|
27 | 27 | | opportunities that can serve nurses well in their future employment |
---|
28 | 28 | | prospects; the demand for long-term care nurses is expected to grow |
---|
29 | 29 | | dramatically in the decades to come as the U.S. population ages and |
---|
30 | 30 | | the need for primary health care increases among all demographic |
---|
31 | 31 | | groups; and |
---|
32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Long-term care nurses play an indispensable role in |
---|
33 | 33 | | our health care system and in the lives of the patients and families |
---|
34 | 34 | | who depend upon their services, and it is fitting that they be |
---|
35 | 35 | | recognized for the skilled and compassionate care they provide; |

37 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
---|
38 | 38 | | Legislature hereby recognize April 6, 2023, as Long-Term Care |
---|
39 | 39 | | Nurses Day at the State Capitol and commend the long-term care |
---|
40 | 40 | | nurses who are practicing in our state for their outstanding |
---|
41 | 41 | | commitment to their vocation and to the patients they serve. |
