No. 984 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The Collin College Board of Trustees recently voted to maintain the district's current tuition rate, which is the lowest in-district rate in the state, through the Fall 2023 semester; and WHEREAS, With this decision, the board of trustees has affirmed its commitment to keeping the cost of education affordable for Collin College students, even as tuition costs continue to trend upward at colleges and universities across the nation; its in-district tuition rate of $62 per credit hour applies to students earning certificates, associate's degrees, and baccalaureate degrees, providing an exceptional value to the more than 57,000 students who are enrolled at Collin College annually; and WHEREAS, The cost of tuition has remained low even as Collin College has experienced significant growth over the past several years; since 2019, the school has opened new campuses in Wylie, Farmersville, and Celina, along with other facilities such as a Technical Campus in Allen, a Public Safety Training Center in McKinney, and an IT Center at its Frisco campus; the college has also recently introduced new baccalaureate degree programs in nursing, cybersecurity, and construction management, adding to the more than 100 degrees and certificates that it currently offers; and WHEREAS, Collin College continues to build upon its reputation as a student-centered institution and an outstanding educational resource to the community, and it is greatly assisting tens of thousands of residents of North Texas, Collin County, and House District 70 in achieving their academic and career goals; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature hereby honor Collin College for its commitment to keeping the cost of tuition affordable and extend to the institution's administrators, trustees, faculty, staff, and students sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Collin College as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
