55 R E S O L U T I O N
66 WHEREAS, The Collin College Board of Trustees recently voted
77 to maintain the district's current tuition rate, which is the
88 lowest in-district rate in the state, through the Fall 2023
99 semester; and
1010 WHEREAS, With this decision, the board of trustees has
1111 affirmed its commitment to keeping the cost of education affordable
1212 for Collin College students, even as tuition costs continue to
1313 trend upward at colleges and universities across the nation; its
1414 in-district tuition rate of $62 per credit hour applies to students
1515 earning certificates, associate's degrees, and baccalaureate
1616 degrees, providing an exceptional value to the more than 57,000
1717 students who are enrolled at Collin College annually; and
1818 WHEREAS, The cost of tuition has remained low even as Collin
1919 College has experienced significant growth over the past several
2020 years; since 2019, the school has opened new campuses in Wylie,
2121 Farmersville, and Celina, along with other facilities such as a
2222 Technical Campus in Allen, a Public Safety Training Center in
2323 McKinney, and an IT Center at its Frisco campus; the college has
2424 also recently introduced new baccalaureate degree programs in
2525 nursing, cybersecurity, and construction management, adding to the
2626 more than 100 degrees and certificates that it currently offers;
2727 and
2828 WHEREAS, Collin College continues to build upon its
2929 reputation as a student-centered institution and an outstanding
3030 educational resource to the community, and it is greatly assisting
3131 tens of thousands of residents of North Texas, Collin County, and
3232 House District 70 in achieving their academic and career goals;
3333 now, therefore, be it
3434 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
3535 Legislature hereby honor Collin College for its commitment to
3636 keeping the cost of tuition affordable and extend to the
3737 institution's administrators, trustees, faculty, staff, and
3838 students sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
3939 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4040 prepared for Collin College as an expression of high regard by the
4141 Texas House of Representatives.
