6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Collin College Board of Trustees recently voted |
---|
7 | 7 | | to maintain the district's current tuition rate, which is the |
---|
8 | 8 | | lowest in-district rate in the state, through the Fall 2023 |
---|
9 | 9 | | semester; and |
---|
10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, With this decision, the board of trustees has |
---|
11 | 11 | | affirmed its commitment to keeping the cost of education affordable |
---|
12 | 12 | | for Collin College students, even as tuition costs continue to |
---|
13 | 13 | | trend upward at colleges and universities across the nation; its |
---|
14 | 14 | | in-district tuition rate of $62 per credit hour applies to students |
---|
15 | 15 | | earning certificates, associate's degrees, and baccalaureate |
---|
16 | 16 | | degrees, providing an exceptional value to the more than 57,000 |
---|
17 | 17 | | students who are enrolled at Collin College annually; and |
---|
18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, The cost of tuition has remained low even as Collin |
---|
19 | 19 | | College has experienced significant growth over the past several |
---|
20 | 20 | | years; since 2019, the school has opened new campuses in Wylie, |
---|
21 | 21 | | Farmersville, and Celina, along with other facilities such as a |
---|
22 | 22 | | Technical Campus in Allen, a Public Safety Training Center in |
---|
23 | 23 | | McKinney, and an IT Center at its Frisco campus; the college has |
---|
24 | 24 | | also recently introduced new baccalaureate degree programs in |
---|
25 | 25 | | nursing, cybersecurity, and construction management, adding to the |
---|
26 | 26 | | more than 100 degrees and certificates that it currently offers; |
---|
27 | 27 | | and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Collin College continues to build upon its |
---|
29 | 29 | | reputation as a student-centered institution and an outstanding |
---|
30 | 30 | | educational resource to the community, and it is greatly assisting |
---|
31 | 31 | | tens of thousands of residents of North Texas, Collin County, and |
---|
32 | 32 | | House District 70 in achieving their academic and career goals; |
---|
33 | 33 | | now, therefore, be it |

34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
---|
35 | 35 | | Legislature hereby honor Collin College for its commitment to |
---|
36 | 36 | | keeping the cost of tuition affordable and extend to the |
---|
37 | 37 | | institution's administrators, trustees, faculty, staff, and |
---|
38 | 38 | | students sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
---|
39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

40 | 40 | | prepared for Collin College as an expression of high regard by the |

41 | 41 | | Texas House of Representatives. |
