55 WHEREAS, Leslie Flores of Santa Rosa High School closed out
66 her senior year of competition by winning a state title at the 2023
77 Texas High School Women's Powerlifting Association 3A Division II
88 State Championships; and
99 WHEREAS, Joining the other top high school lifters in Texas
1010 at the Comerica Center in Frisco on March 16, Ms. Flores delivered
1111 an exceptional performance in the 148-pound weight class; she
1212 racked up personal bests in the squat, bench press, and dead lift
1313 categories to top the field with a total of 1,000 pounds, claiming
1414 her second consecutive state crown; additionally, she was honored
1515 as the Most Outstanding Lifter in the Lightweight Division; and
1616 WHEREAS, The daughter of Juan and Julie Flores, Leslie Flores
1717 has also excelled in volleyball, basketball, golf, and track and
1818 field over the course of her high school career; moreover, she is an
1919 outstanding student, and she captains the cheerleading squad; and
2020 WHEREAS, Through skill, hard work, and relentless
2121 determination, Leslie Flores has realized her dream of becoming a
2222 two-time state powerlifting champion, and she will treasure the
2323 memory of this remarkable accomplishment for the rest of her life;
2424 now, therefore, be it
2525 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2626 Legislature hereby congratulate Leslie Flores on winning the state
2727 title in the 148-pound weight class at the 2023 THSWPA 3A Division
2828 II State Championships and extend to her sincere best wishes for the
2929 future; and, be it further
3030 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3131 prepared for Ms. Flores as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3232 House of Representatives.
