| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Rachel Fleming retired from the Denton |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Police Department on March 31, 2023, concluding an outstanding |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | career with the agency that spanned 25 years; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, After being hired as a patrol officer in 1998, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Deputy Chief Fleming was named the community relations officer for |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | southern Denton in 2002; two years later, she joined the Criminal |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Investigations Division, where she spent 12 years investigating |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | financial and narcotics offenses; in 2016, she was promoted to |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | sergeant, and she subsequently led a night shift patrol unit for two |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | years; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Fleming has further benefited the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | department through her work as its special events coordinator, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | student resource officer sergeant, and family services sergeant; |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | after being promoted to lieutenant in 2019, she began supervising |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the jail, student resource officers, fleet, warrants office, and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | technology for the department, as well as its quartermaster |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | program; in 2021, she was promoted to deputy chief, and she has |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | since been placed in command of the Support Bureau; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, While pursuing her own career goals, Deputy Chief |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Fleming has demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | ambitions of other officers and supervisors; she has served as a |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | certified instructor in the Basic Peace Officer Academy and has |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | also been active in the department's self-defense program for |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | members of the community; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Rachel Fleming's dedication, |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | integrity, and commitment to protecting and serving the public have |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | greatly benefited the citizens of Denton and earned her the respect |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | and admiration of her colleagues, and she may indeed reflect with |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | pride on a career well spent as she embarks on the next exciting |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | chapter of her life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Deputy Chief Rachel Fleming on her |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | retirement from the Denton Police Department and extend to her |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |

| 39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
