| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Midland Health is celebrating National Nurses Week |

| 6 | 6 | | on May 6-12, 2023; and |

| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, More than 600 nurses are employed at Midland |

| 8 | 8 | | Memorial Hospital and other facilities comprising the Midland |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Health system; they play an indispensable role in the delivery of |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | health care in the community, and the depth and breadth of their |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | expertise ensures that they are able to meet the wide-ranging needs |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | of their patients; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Nurses are caregivers, healers, and patient |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | advocates who are committed to providing quality care to patients, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | including vulnerable members of society; the demand for nursing |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | services is expected to increase due to the aging of the U.S. |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | population, the expansion of life-sustaining technologies, and the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | explosive growth of home health care services, and more qualified |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | nurses will be needed to keep pace with this demand in the future; |

| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Through the challenging yet rewarding work they |

| 22 | 22 | | perform, nurses have played an essential role in ensuring that |

| 23 | 23 | | patients at Midland Health are treated to the highest standards of |

| 24 | 24 | | care, and National Nurses Week provides a welcome opportunity to |

| 25 | 25 | | honor these outstanding professionals; now, therefore, be it |

| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby recognize May 6-12, 2023, as Midland Health |
