5	5	WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the
6	6	passing of Will Martin Jr. of Victoria on January 6, 2023, at the
7	7	age of 74; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Will Martin was born in Wharton on August 12, 1948,
9	9	to George and Sarah Wleczyk, and he grew up with two siblings,
10	10	Juanita and Elizabeth; after graduating from Victoria High School,
11	11	he joined the U.S. Navy Construction Battalion as a steel worker; he
12	12	attained the rank of petty officer third class, and he served with
13	13	the U.S. Marine Corps and underwater demolition teams on tactical
14	14	missions; over the course of his civilian career, he was a senior
15	15	draftsman and mapmaker for the Golden Crescent Regional Planning
16	16	Commission, a geologist for Continental Laboratories, and a sales
17	17	consultant for Wholesale Tire Company in Victoria; and
18	18	WHEREAS, Widely known for his advocacy work, Mr. Martin
19	19	served as a commander of both Navy Seabee Veterans of America and
20	20	American Legion Post No. 166, and he was involved with such
21	21	organizations as Vietnam Veterans of America and Military Veterans
22	22	and Patriots; moreover, he was appointed chair of the American
23	23	Legion Department of Texas Legislative Commission, and he was the
24	24	executive director of Conservative Texans for Charitable Bingo; and
25	25	WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Martin enjoyed the love
26	26	and support of his wife, Marilyn, with whom he shared 30 years; he
27	27	was the devoted father of four children, Melodie, Sonya, Mancie,
28	28	Tyler, and a stepson, Chad, and he also took great pride in his 11
29	29	grandchildren; his favorite leisure pursuits included football,
30	30	hunting, and fishing; and
31	31	WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to his family, his community, and
32	32	his country, Will Martin earned the lasting respect and admiration
33	33	of all who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it
34	34	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
35	35	Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Will Martin Jr. and
36	36	extend heartfelt condolences to the members of his family: to his
37	37	wife, Marilyn Martin; to his children, Melodie Hall and her
38	38	husband, Lloyd, Sonya Talley and her husband, Mark, Mancie Beck and
39	39	her husband, Bill, and Tyler Neese and his wife, Emily Green; to his
40	40	stepson, Chad Neese, and his wife, Jenifer; to his sister,
41	41	Elizabeth Ward, and her husband, James; to his grandchildren,
42	42	Brandon Griffith, Danielle, Chloe, and Caden Luna, Becca and Sammie
43	43	Talley, Brodie and Coby Beck, Lizzy Neese, and Jessie and Jayden
44	44	Burton; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
45	45	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
46	46	prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
47	47	Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Will
48	48	Martin.
