55 AN ACT
66 Relating to the duration of time a record of arrest, indictment, or
77 conviction of a crime may appear on a consumer report.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Section 20.05(a)(4), Business and Commerce Code,
1010 is amended to read as follows:
1111 (a)(4) a record of arrest, indictment, or conviction of a
1212 crime in which the date of disposition, release, or parole predates
1313 the consumer report by more than fourseven years;
1414 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1515 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1616 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
1717 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
1818 Act shall take effect September 1, 2023.
