66 AN ACT
77 relating to the awarding of grants to certain entities for homeland
88 security expenses.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 421.072, Government Code, is amended by
1111 adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
1212 (d) The governor may allocate available federal and state
1313 grants and other funding related to homeland security to a local
1414 governmental entity or a nonprofit entity for:
1515 (1) expenses incurred by the entity to provide
1616 humanitarian assistance to unaccompanied minors and families,
1717 including expenses incurred for public safety, medical care,
1818 shelter, transportation, and nourishment; and
1919 (2) the humane processing of the remains of
2020 undocumented migrants.
2121 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
