| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter P, Chapter 201, Transportation Code, |

| 11 | 11 | | is amended by adding Section 201.9915 to read as follows: |

| 12 | 12 | | Sec. 201.9915. FUNDING CATEGORY RELATED TO PORTS OF ENTRY. |

| 13 | 13 | | (a) In this section: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (1) "Project related to a port of entry" has the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | meaning assigned by Section 201.710. |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (2) "Master plan" means the Texas-Mexico Border |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Transportation Master Plan developed by the department in |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | collaboration with the border trade advisory committee and relevant |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | federal agencies in the United States and the United Mexican |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | States. |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (b) The commission shall establish a funding category under |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Section 201.991(b)(2) for projects related to a port of entry, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | including projects recommended in the master plan. |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
