77 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
88 SECTION 1. Section 41.0052, Election Code, is amended by
99 adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows:
1010 (a-1) The governing body of an independent school district
1111 that holds its general election for officers on a date other than
1212 the November uniform election date may change the date on which it
1313 holds its general election for officers to the November uniform
1414 election date. This subsection applies only to a county that
1515 borders the United Mexican States and that has a population of at
1616 least 450,000 and not more than 870,000. This subsection expires
1717 January 1, 2029.
1818 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1919 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2020 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2121 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2222 Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
