6 | 6 | | relating to the Medicaid eligibility of certain women after a |

7 | 7 | | pregnancy. |

8 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

9 | 9 | | SECTION 1. Section 32.024, Human Resources Code, is amended |
---|
10 | 10 | | by adding Subsection (l-1) to read as follows: |

11 | 11 | | (l-1) The commission shall continue to provide medical |
---|
12 | 12 | | assistance to a woman who is eligible for medical assistance for |
---|
13 | 13 | | pregnant women for a period of not less than 12 months following the |
---|
14 | 14 | | date the woman delivers or experiences an involuntary miscarriage. |
---|
15 | 15 | | SECTION 2. If before implementing any provision of this Act |
---|
16 | 16 | | a state agency determines that a waiver or authorization from a |
---|
17 | 17 | | federal agency is necessary for implementation of that provision, |
---|
18 | 18 | | the agency affected by the provision shall request the waiver or |
---|
19 | 19 | | authorization and may delay implementing that provision until the |
---|
20 | 20 | | waiver or authorization is granted. |
---|
21 | 21 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
