A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to raising the age limit to purchase certain weapons
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 46.06, Penal Code, is amended by
amending Subsection (a)(2) to read as follows:
(2) intentionally or knowingly sells, rents, leases,
or gives or offers to sell, rent, lease, or give to any [child]
person younger than [18] 21 years of age any firearm, club, or
location-restricted knife;
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
