A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the publication of a report providing an overview of
public education in Texas.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 7, Education Code, is
amended by adding Section 7.0081 to read as follows:
Sec. 7.0081. PUBLIC ACCESS TO SNAPSHOT DATA. (a) In this
section, "Snapshot: School District Profiles" means the annual
report published by the agency that provides the public with an
overview of public education in Texas, at both the state and local
levels, and that includes multiple data elements, summary tables,
and a peer search function.
(b) The agency annually shall prepare and publish on its
Internet website Snapshot: School District Profiles, using the
same data elements and the same "summary tables," "district detail
search," "item definitions," "download statistics," and "peer
search" used in Snapshot 2020.
(c) The agency shall prepare and publish Snapshot: School
District Profiles, using the information described in Subsection
(b), for school years 2020-2021, 2021-2022, and 2022-2023 not later
than December 31, 2023.
(d) This subsection and Subsection (c) expire December 1,
2024.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
