55 relating to the composition of the radiation advisory board.
66 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
77 SECTION 1. Section 401.015(a), Health and Safety Code, is
88 amended to read as follows:
99 (a) The radiation advisory board is composed of the
1010 following 19 [18] members appointed by the governor:
1111 (1) one representative from industry who is trained in
1212 nuclear physics, science, or nuclear engineering;
1313 (2) one representative from labor;
1414 (3) one representative from agriculture;
1515 (4) one representative from the insurance industry;
1616 (5) one individual who is engaged in the use and
1717 application of nuclear physics in medicine and is certified by the
1818 American Board of Radiology or licensed by the Texas Medical Board
1919 under Chapter 602, Occupations Code;
2020 (6) one hospital administrator;
2121 (7) one individual licensed by the Texas Medical Board
2222 who specializes in nuclear medicine;
2323 (8) one individual licensed by the Texas Medical Board
2424 who specializes in pathology;
2525 (9) one individual licensed by the Texas Medical Board
2626 who specializes in radiology;
2727 (10) one representative from the nuclear utility
2828 industry;
2929 (11) one representative from the radioactive waste
3030 industry;
3131 (12) one representative from the petroleum industry;
3232 (13) one health physicist certified by the American
3333 Board of Health Physics;
3434 (14) one individual licensed by the State Board of
3535 Dental Examiners;
3636 (15) one representative from the uranium mining
3737 industry; [and]
3838 (16) one individual licensed by the State Board of
3939 Veterinary Medical Examiners; and
4040 (17) three representatives of the public.
4141 SECTION 2. As soon as practicable after the effective date
4242 of this Act, the governor shall appoint an individual licensed by
4343 the State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners to the radiation
4444 advisory board as required by Section 401.015, Health and Safety
4545 Code, as amended by this Act.
4646 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
4747 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
4848 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
4949 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
5050 Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
