5	5	relating to the composition of the radiation advisory board.
6	6	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
7	7	SECTION 1. Section 401.015(a), Health and Safety Code, is
8	8	amended to read as follows:
9	9	(a) The radiation advisory board is composed of the
10	10	following 19 [18] members appointed by the governor:
11	11	(1) one representative from industry who is trained in
12	12	nuclear physics, science, or nuclear engineering;
13	13	(2) one representative from labor;
14	14	(3) one representative from agriculture;
15	15	(4) one representative from the insurance industry;
16	16	(5) one individual who is engaged in the use and
17	17	application of nuclear physics in medicine and is certified by the
18	18	American Board of Radiology or licensed by the Texas Medical Board
19	19	under Chapter 602, Occupations Code;
20	20	(6) one hospital administrator;
21	21	(7) one individual licensed by the Texas Medical Board
22	22	who specializes in nuclear medicine;
23	23	(8) one individual licensed by the Texas Medical Board
24	24	who specializes in pathology;
25	25	(9) one individual licensed by the Texas Medical Board
26	26	who specializes in radiology;
27	27	(10) one representative from the nuclear utility
28	28	industry;
29	29	(11) one representative from the radioactive waste
30	30	industry;
31	31	(12) one representative from the petroleum industry;
32	32	(13) one health physicist certified by the American
33	33	Board of Health Physics;
34	34	(14) one individual licensed by the State Board of
35	35	Dental Examiners;
36	36	(15) one representative from the uranium mining
37	37	industry; [and]
38	38	(16) one individual licensed by the State Board of
39	39	Veterinary Medical Examiners; and
40	40	(17) three representatives of the public.
41	41	SECTION 2. As soon as practicable after the effective date
42	42	of this Act, the governor shall appoint an individual licensed by
43	43	the State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners to the radiation
44	44	advisory board as required by Section 401.015, Health and Safety
45	45	Code, as amended by this Act.
46	46	SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
47	47	a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
48	48	provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
49	49	Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
50	50	Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
