55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the manufacture of voting machines by certain foreign
88 persons.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 122.0331, Election Code, is amended by
1111 adding Subsection (e) to read as follows:
1212 (e) A manufacturer of voting systems used in an election may
1313 not enter into a contract, or extend or renew a contract, for
1414 software development services with:
1515 (1) a company or other entity headquartered in China,
1616 Cuba, Iran, North Korea, or Russia; or
1717 (2) an individual who is based in China, Cuba, Iran,
1818 North Korea, or Russia.
1919 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
2020 to an election ordered on or after the effective date of this Act.
2121 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
