66 relating to media production development zone recognition.
77 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
88 SECTION 1. Section 485A.101, Government Code, is amended to
99 read as follows:
1010 Sec. 485A.101. CRITERIA FOR MEDIA PRODUCTION DEVELOPMENT
1111 ZONE RECOGNITION. To be approved as a media production development
1212 zone, an area:
1313 (1) must be in a metropolitan statistical area, the principal
1414 municiopality of which:
1515 (A) has a population of more than 250,000; and
1616 (1) (B) has must have the adequate workforce,
1717 insfrastructure, facilities, or resources to support the
1818 production and completion of moving image projects;
1919 (2) must be recognized as a media production development zone
2020 by ordinance or order, as appropriate, of a municipality or the
2121 commissioners court of a count; and
2222 (3) will contain a qualified media production location within
2323 its geographical boundaries that meets the criteria under Section
2424 485A.102.
2525 SECTION 2. Section 485A.103(a), Government Code, is amended
2626 to read as follows:
2727 Sec. 485A.103. MAXIMUM NUMBER OF ZONES AND LOCATIONS
2828 THROUGHOUT THE STATE. (a) There may not be more than1020 media
2929 production development zone designations under this chapter at any
3030 one time.
3131 SECTION 3. The change in law made by this Act applies only
3232 to an application for designation submitted under Section 485A.106,
3333 Government Code, on or after the effective date of this Act. An
3434 application submitted before the effective date of this Act is
3535 governed by the law in effect on the date the application was
3636 submitted, and the former law is continued in effect for that
3737 purpose.
3838 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
