55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the authority of the attorney general to represent
88 county officials in certain cases.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 157.9015, Local Government Code, is
1111 amended by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
1212 (d) If a district or county attorney declines to represent a
1313 county official or employee under Subsection (c), the county
1414 official or employee may request the representation of the attorney
1515 general, and the attorney general may offer representation to the
1616 county official or employee.
1717 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1818 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1919 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2020 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2121 Act takes effect on the 91st day after the last day of the
2222 legislative session.
