66 AN ACT
77 relating to legal representation of certain hospital districts in
88 civil proceedings.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 281.056(b-1), Health and Safety Code, is
1111 amended to read as follows:
1212 (b-1) The county attorney, district attorney, or criminal
1313 district attorney, as appropriate, with the duty to represent the
1414 county in civil matters shall, in all legal matters, represent a
1515 district located in:
1616 (1) a county with a population of 800,000 or more that
1717 borders the United Mexican States; or
1818 (2) a county with a population of 3.4 million or more[;
1919 or
2020 [(3) a county with a population of more than 800,000
2121 that was not included in the boundaries of a hospital district
2222 before September 1, 2003].
2323 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
