| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 24, Government Code, is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | amended by adding Sections 24.60035 and 24.60036 to read as |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Sec. 24.60035. 490TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT (BRAZORIA COUNTY). |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | The 490th Judicial District is composed of Brazoria County. |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Sec. 24.60036. 491ST JUDICIAL DISTRICT (BRAZORIA COUNTY). |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | The 491st Judicial District is composed of Brazoria County. |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | SECTION 2. The 490th and 491st Judicial Districts are |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | created the earliest of: |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (1) the effective date of this Act, if the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | commissioner's court of Brazoria County submits on or before that |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | date a resolution to the Office of Court Administration of the Texas |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Judicial System stating that the Brazoria County Courthouse has |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | sufficient office space to house both the 490th and 491st Judicial |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Districts; |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (2) the date the commissioner's court of Brazoria |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | County submits a resolution to the Office of Court Administration |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | of the Texas Judicial System stating that the Brazoria County |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Courthouse has sufficient office space to house both the 490th and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | 491st judicial districts, if the commissioner's court submits the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | resolution after the effective date of this Act; or |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | (3) October 1, 2025. |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
