| 7 | 7 | | relating to the allocation of certain federal money provided under |

| 8 | 8 | | the Cranston-Gonzalez National Affordable Housing Act. |

| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 2306.111, Government Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | adding Subsection (j) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | (j) Notwithstanding any other law, money provided to this |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | state under the Cranston-Gonzalez National Affordable Housing Act |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (42 U.S.C. Section 12701 et seq.) as a one-time lump sum for a |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | specified use: |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (1) is not subject to the allocation requirements |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | under this section or the allocation formula developed by the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | department under Section 2306.1115; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (2) may be allocated for the benefit of any area of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | this state in the manner specified under federal law. |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
