55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the disposition in certain counties of charges for
88 registering a motor vehicle that has been operated while improperly
99 registered.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Section 502.045, Transportation Code, is amended
1212 by adding Subsection (d-1) to read as follows:
1313 (d-1) A county assessor-collector shall credit to the
1414 county road and bridge fund 50 percent of revenue from an additional
1515 charge described by Subsection (d). This subsection applies only
1616 to a county that is located on the international border and in which
1717 the largest municipality has a population of more than 675,000.
1818 SECTION 2. Section 502.198(a), Transportation Code, is
1919 amended to read as follows:
2020 (a) Except as provided by Sections 502.045(d-1), 502.058,
2121 502.060, 502.1911, 502.192, 502.356, and 502.357 and Subchapter H,
2222 this section applies to all fees collected by a county
2323 assessor-collector under this chapter.
2424 SECTION 3. Section 502.045(d-1), Transportation Code, as
2525 added by this Act, applies only to an additional charge described by
2626 that subsection that is received by a county assessor-collector on
2727 or after the effective date of this Act.
2828 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
