7 | 7 | | relating to required training regarding trauma-informed care for |

8 | 8 | | certain child-care providers. |

9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 42.0421, Human Resources Code, is |
---|
11 | 11 | | amended by adding Subsection (c-1) to read as follows: |

12 | 12 | | (c-1) The minimum training standards prescribed by the |
---|
13 | 13 | | executive commissioner under Section 42.042(p) must require an |
---|
14 | 14 | | employee, director, or operator of a child-care facility or family |
---|
15 | 15 | | home that provides care for children younger than five years of age |
---|
16 | 16 | | to complete a training program regarding trauma-informed care and |
---|
17 | 17 | | the effect of trauma on children at least once every three years. |
---|
18 | 18 | | The training may be included as a component of any other training |
---|
19 | 19 | | required by this section. |
---|
20 | 20 | | SECTION 2. As soon as practicable after the effective date |
---|
21 | 21 | | of this Act, the executive commissioner of the Health and Human |
---|
22 | 22 | | Services Commission shall adopt the rules necessary to implement |
---|
23 | 23 | | the changes in law made by this Act. |
---|
24 | 24 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
