66 AN ACT
77 relating to confirmation of a voter's residence by a voter
88 registrar.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 15.051(a), Election Code, is amended to
1111 read as follows:
1212 (a) The [If the registrar has reason to believe that a
1313 voter's current residence is different from that indicated on the
1414 registration records, or that the voter's residence address is a
1515 commercial post office box or similar location that does not
1616 correspond to a residence, the] registrar shall deliver to a [the]
1717 voter a written confirmation notice requesting confirmation of the
1818 voter's current residence if:
1919 (1) the voter's residence address is a commercial post
2020 office box or similar location that does not correspond to a
2121 residence;
2222 (2) on November 30 following a general election:
2323 (A) the voter's name is not on the suspense list;
2424 and
2525 (B) the voter has not voted in any election
2626 during the previous 25 months; or
2727 (3) the registrar has any other reason to believe that
2828 a voter's current residence is different from that indicated on the
2929 registration records.
3030 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
