| 6 | 6 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 7 | 7 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 392, Local Government |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Code, is amended by adding Section 392.0555 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Sec. 392.0555. PET OWNERSHIP POLICY. A housing authority |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | policy permitting tenant ownership of a pet must comply with all |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | applicable county or municipal restrictions on dangerous dogs |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | imposed under Section 822.047, Health and Safety Code. |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
