| 10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Section 25.2391, Government Code, is amended to |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | read as follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Sec. 25.2391. WALLER COUNTY. (a) Waller County has the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | following [one] statutory county courts: |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (1) [court, the] County Court at Law No. 1 of Waller |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | County; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (2) County Court at Law No. 2 of Waller County. |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (b) The county courts at law [County Court at Law] of Waller |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | County sit [sits] in Hempstead. |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | SECTION 2. (a) On the effective date of this Act, the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | County Court at Law of Waller County is redesignated County Court at |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Law No. 1 of Waller County. |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | (b) The judge of the County Court at Law of Waller County is |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | the judge of County Court at Law No. 1 of Waller County. |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (c) This Act does not affect the term of office of a judge of |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | a court redesignated by this Act. The judge, unless otherwise |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | removed as provided by law, continues to serve for the term for |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | which the judge was elected. |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | SECTION 3. The County Court at Law No. 2 of Waller County is |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | created on the effective date of this Act. |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
