66 relating to the establishment of a boil water notice alert system.
77 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
88 SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 341, Health and Safety
99 Code, is amended by adding Section 341.043 to read as follows:
1010 Sec. 341.043. BOIL WATER NOTICE ALERT SYSTEM. (a) The
1111 commission shall develop and implement an alert system to be
1212 activated in the event of a boil water notice and any related
1313 information, including any recission or expiration of the boil
1414 water notice.
1515 (b) The alert system must include the ability to provide
1616 notifications through electronic instant messaging.
1717 (c) The commission may adopt rules and procedures necessary
1818 to implement this section.
1919 SECTION 2. As soon as practicable after the effective date
2020 of this Act, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality shall
2121 establish the alert system required by Section 341.043, Health and
2222 Safety Code, as added by this Act.
2323 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2424 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2525 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2626 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2727 Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
