7 | 7 | | relating to the requirements for a public junior college to receive |

8 | 8 | | approval from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to |

9 | 9 | | offer a baccalaureate degree program. |

10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Section 130.307(b), Education Code, is amended |
---|
12 | 12 | | to read as follows: |
---|
13 | 13 | | (b) A [Except as provided by Subsection (b-1), a] public |
---|
14 | 14 | | junior college may offer a baccalaureate degree program under this |
---|
15 | 15 | | subchapter only if its junior college district[: |
---|
16 | 16 | | [(1) had a taxable property valuation amount of not |
---|
17 | 17 | | less than $6 billion in the preceding year; and |
---|
18 | 18 | | [(2)] received a positive assessment of the overall |
---|
19 | 19 | | financial health of the district as reported by the coordinating |
---|
20 | 20 | | board. |
---|
21 | 21 | | SECTION 2. Section 130.307(b-1), Education Code, is |
---|
22 | 22 | | repealed. |
---|
23 | 23 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
---|
24 | 24 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
---|
25 | 25 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
---|
26 | 26 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
---|
27 | 27 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
