| 7 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 8 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 662, Government Code, is |

| 9 | 9 | | amended by adding Section 662.081 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Sec. 662.081. HOSPICE AND PALLIATIVE CARE DAY. (a) The |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | second Saturday in October is Hospice and Palliative Care Day to |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | bring awareness to the role of hospice and palliative care in |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | optimizing the quality of life for seriously ill patients and their |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | families. |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (b) Hospice and Palliative Care Day may be regularly |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | observed by appropriate ceremonies and activities. |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
