77 relating to a veterans suicide prevention campaign.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 434, Government Code, is
1010 amended by adding Section 434.0241 to read as follows:
1111 Sec. 434.0241. VETERANS SUICIDE PREVENTION CAMPAIGN. (a)
1212 The Texas Veterans Commission shall conduct a suicide prevention
1313 campaign to provide veterans with information regarding suicide
1414 prevention.
1515 (b) In conducting the suicide prevention campaign, the
1616 commission shall establish a dedicated Internet website to provide
1717 information about safely storing firearms.
1818 (c) The commission shall collaborate with, and may contract
1919 with, community-based, nonprofit, or private organizations to
2020 conduct the suicide prevention campaign under this section.
2121 (d) The commission may solicit and accept gifts and grants
2222 for purposes of conducting the suicide prevention campaign under
2323 this section.
2424 SECTION 2. Not later than March 1, 2024, the Texas Veterans
2525 Commission shall:
2626 (1) establish the veterans suicide prevention
2727 campaign as required under Section 434.0241, Government Code, as
2828 added by this Act; and
2929 (2) adopt any rules necessary to implement the
3030 campaign.
3131 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
