55 relating to formula funding for certain nonresident students
66 enrolled at Lamar State College--Orange.
77 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
88 SECTION 1. Section 61.059, Education Code, is amended by
99 adding Subsection (n-1) to read as follows:
1010 (n-1) In the formula applicable to Lamar State
1111 College--Orange for funding instruction and administration, the
1212 board shall include any contact hours taught through distance
1313 education to students enrolled at that college who reside in
1414 another state and:
1515 (1) as permitted by Section 54.231(a), pay tuition at
1616 the rate charged to residents of this state; and
1717 (2) reside in a county or parish in the other state
1818 that is contiguous to the county in which the college is located.
1919 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2020 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2121 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2222 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2323 Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
