| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 130.306, Education Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (b) to read as |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | (a) Except as provided by Subsection (b), a [A] public |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | junior college offering a baccalaureate degree program under this |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | subchapter may not offer more than five baccalaureate degree |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | programs at any time. |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (b) At any time, South Texas College may not offer more than |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | six baccalaureate degree programs under this subchapter. The sixth |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | baccalaureate degree program must be a bachelor of applied science |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | degree in child and family development. |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
