66 relating to law enforcement radio interoperability and training.
77 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
88 SECTION 1. Subchapter N, Chapter 411, Government Code, is
99 amended by adding Section 411.404 to read as follows:
1010 Sec. 411.404. RADIO INTEROPERABILITY IN COUNTIES AFFECTED
1111 BY OPERATION LONE STAR. In any county impacted by or adjacent to
1212 Operation Lone Star, the department shall ensure that all public
1313 safety entities have emergency radio infrastructure that allows
1414 inter operable communication between all other public safety
1515 entities, including communication between different types of
1616 public safety agencies.
1717 SECTION 2. Subchapter A, Chapter 411, Government Code, is
1818 amended by adding Section 411.2098 to read as follows:
1919 Sec. 411.2098. MASS SHOOTING TRAINING. The department
2020 shall establish a process to train public safety entities including
2121 local law enforcement entities in response to a mass shooting
2222 event. The training must include the following:
2323 (1) protection of students in a mass shooting event at
2424 a school;
2525 (2) emergency medical response training in minimizing
2626 gun violence casualties;
2727 (3) tactics for denying an intruder entry into a
2828 classroom or school facility; and
2929 (4) the chain of command of command during a mass
3030 shooting event.
3131 SECTION 3. Except as otherwise provided by this Act, this
3232 Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
