77 relating to the required period of retention of video surveillance
88 recordings of special education settings.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 29.022(e), Education Code, is amended to
1111 read as follows:
1212 (e) Except as provided by Subsection (e-1), a school
1313 district or open-enrollment charter school shall retain video
1414 recorded from a video camera placed under this section for at least
1515 six [three] months after the date the video was recorded.
1616 SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2023-2024
1717 school year.
1818 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1919 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2020 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2121 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2222 Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
