| 11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Section 223.001, Human Resources Code, is | |
| 12 | 12 | amended by adding Subsection (d-1) to read as follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | (d-1) The department shall reimburse a county that does not | |
| 14 | 14 | have a juvenile detention facility for the cost per day of housing | |
| 15 | 15 | children who have been committed to the department but have not yet | |
| 16 | 16 | been admitted or transferred to the department. The department by | |
| 17 | 17 | rule shall establish application and eligibility requirements for a | |
| 18 | 18 | county to receive reimbursement under this subsection. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
