7	7	relating to requirements for certain licenses and permits issued by
8	8	the Parks and Wildlife Department.
9	9	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
10	10	SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 61, Parks and Wildlife
11	11	Code, is amended by adding Section 61.061 to read as follows:
12	12	Sec. 61.061. AFFIDAVIT REQUIRED. A proclamation of the
13	13	commission under this chapter must require that an applicant for
14	14	the issuance, reissuance, or renewal of a license, permit, or other
15	15	authorization to possess wildlife resources submit with the
16	16	application an affidavit made before an officer qualified to
17	17	administer oaths affirming that the person has read and understands
18	18	each provision of this code and rule adopted under this code
19	19	relating to the administration of drugs to the wildlife resource to
20	20	which the license, permit, or other authorization applies.
21	21	SECTION 2. This Act applies only to an application for the
22	22	issuance, reissuance, or renewal of a license, permit, or other
23	23	authorization submitted on or after the effective date of this Act.
24	24	An application for the issuance, reissuance, or renewal of a
25	25	license, permit, or other authorization submitted before the
26	26	effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on the
27	27	date the application was submitted, and the former law is continued
28	28	in effect for that purpose.
29	29	SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
