A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to entities authorized to issue and renew commercial
driver's licenses.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 522, Transportation Code,
is amended by adding Section 522.0231 to read as follows:
Sec. 522.0231. ISSUANCE AND RENEWAL OF LICENSE BY PRIVATE
DRIVER TRAINING FACILITY. (a) This section applies only to a
private driver training facility authorized to administer a
knowledge or skills test under Section 522.023.
(b) The department by rule shall:
(1) establish a procedure to authorize a private
driver training facility described by Subsection (a) to issue and
renew commercial driver's licenses; and
(2) prescribe the form and manner by which a facility
described by Subdivision (1) may issue and renew commercial
driver's licenses.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
