| 8 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 9 | 9 | | SECTION 1. Section 298G.004, Health and Safety Code, is |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Sec. 298G.004. EXPIRATION. (a) Subject to Section |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | 298G.153(d), the authority of the district to administer and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | operate a program under this chapter expires December 31, 2027 |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | [2023]. |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (b) This chapter expires December 31, 2027 [2023]. |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | SECTION 2. Subchapter D, Chapter 298G, Health and Safety |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Code, is amended by adding Section 298G.154 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Sec. 298G.154. INTEREST AND PENALTIES. The district may |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | impose and collect interest and penalties on delinquent mandatory |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | payments assessed under this chapter in any amount that does not |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | exceed the maximum amount authorized for other delinquent payments |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | owed to the district. |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
