55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the reimbursement of certain expenses of appellate
88 court justices and judges.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 22, Government Code, is
1111 amended by adding Section 22.3015 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 22.3015. EXPENSES OF APPELLATE COURT JUDGE OR JUSTICE.
1313 (a) A justice of the supreme court, a judge of the court of criminal
1414 appeals, or a justice of a court of appeals engaged in the discharge
1515 of official duties in a county other than the justice's or judge's
1616 county of residence is entitled to traveling and other necessary
1717 expenses, as provided by Chapter 660.
1818 (b) A justice of the supreme court, a judge of the court of
1919 criminal appeals, or a justice of a court of appeals is entitled to
2020 receive from the state the actual and necessary postage, telegraph,
2121 and telephone expenses incurred in the discharge of official
2222 duties.
2323 (c) The expenses shall be paid by the state on a sworn
2424 itemized account showing the expenses.
2525 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
