| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 54, Water Code, is amended | |
| 11 | 11 | by adding Section 54.104 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 54.104. MEETINGS. (a) A regular or special meeting of | |
| 13 | 13 | the board of a district must be held at a publicly accessible | |
| 14 | 14 | location inside or not more than five miles outside the territory of | |
| 15 | 15 | the district. | |
| 16 | 16 | (b) This section does not prohibit the board of a district | |
| 17 | 17 | from holding an open or closed meeting by telephone conference call | |
| 18 | 18 | or videoconference call in accordance with Chapter 551, Government | |
| 19 | 19 | Code. | |
| 20 | 20 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
