9 | 9 | BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Article I, Texas Constitution, is amended by | |
11 | 11 | adding Section 36 to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 36. (a) Except as otherwise provided by this | |
13 | 13 | constitution, each individual residing in this state has the right | |
14 | 14 | to be free from governmental intrusion or interference into the | |
15 | 15 | individual's private life. | |
16 | 16 | (b) This section does not nullify or limit the rights | |
17 | 17 | provided by general law to attend or access public meetings or | |
18 | 18 | obtain public records. | |
19 | 19 | SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be | |
20 | 20 | submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 7, 2023. | |
21 | 21 | The ballot shall be printed to provide for voting for or against the | |
22 | 22 | proposition: "The constitutional amendment establishing the right | |
23 | 23 | to be free from governmental intrusion or interference into an | |
24 | 24 | individual's private life." |
