55 A JOINT RESOLUTION
66 proposing a constitutional amendment establishing the right to be
77 free from governmental intrusion or interference into an
88 individual's private life.
99 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Article I, Texas Constitution, is amended by
1111 adding Section 36 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 36. (a) Except as otherwise provided by this
1313 constitution, each individual residing in this state has the right
1414 to be free from governmental intrusion or interference into the
1515 individual's private life.
1616 (b) This section does not nullify or limit the rights
1717 provided by general law to attend or access public meetings or
1818 obtain public records.
1919 SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
2020 submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 7, 2023.
2121 The ballot shall be printed to provide for voting for or against the
2222 proposition: "The constitutional amendment establishing the right
2323 to be free from governmental intrusion or interference into an
2424 individual's private life."
