106 proposing a constitutional amendment relating to appropriations
117 for the preservation and perpetuation of certain items of
128 historical value; allowing the legislature and state agencies to
139 accept on behalf of the state gifts of items of historical value and
1410 contributions to purchase such items.
1511 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1612 SECTION 1. Section 39, Article XVI, Texas Constitution, is
1713 amended to read as follows:
1814 Sec. 39. The Legislature may, from time to time, make
1915 appropriations for preserving and perpetuating memorials of the
2016 history of Texas, by means of monuments, statues, paintings, films,
2117 videotapes, audiotapes, computer files or other electronic storage
2218 media, and documents of historical value. The Legislature or an
2319 agency of the state may accept on behalf of the state gifts of items
2420 of historical value and contributions to purchase items of
2521 historical value.
2622 SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
2723 submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 7, 2023.
2824 The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the
2925 proposition: "The constitutional amendment allowing the
3026 legislature to make appropriations for preserving and perpetuating
3127 certain items of historical value and allowing the legislature and
3228 state agencies to accept on behalf of the state gifts of items of
3329 historical value and contributions to preserve and perpetuate such
3430 items."
