8 | 8 | BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Section 40, Article III, Texas Constitution, is | |
10 | 10 | amended to read as follows: | |
11 | 11 | Sec. 40. (a) When the legislature is [Legislature shall be] | |
12 | 12 | convened in a special session, the legislature may consider [there | |
13 | 13 | shall be no] legislation on any subject, including the [upon] | |
14 | 14 | subjects [other than those] designated in the proclamation of the | |
15 | 15 | governor [Governor] calling the [such] session, or presented to the | |
16 | 16 | legislature [them] by the governor. | |
17 | 17 | (b) No special [Governor; and no such] session shall be of | |
18 | 18 | longer duration than thirty days. | |
19 | 19 | SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be | |
20 | 20 | submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 7, 2023. | |
21 | 21 | The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the | |
22 | 22 | proposition: "The constitutional amendment authorizing the | |
23 | 23 | legislature to consider legislation on any subject during a special | |
24 | 24 | session." |
