88 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Article I, Texas Constitution, is amended by
1010 adding Section 36 to read as follows:
1111 Sec. 36. No person shall be held in slavery or involuntary
1212 servitude in this state for any reason, including as a punishment
1313 for a crime.
1414 SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
1515 submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 7, 2023.
1616 The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the
1717 proposition: "The constitutional amendment prohibiting slavery
1818 and involuntary servitude."
